Eight Elephants is very highly rated hostel in downtown Taipei City. Just a two minute walk from Guting Station on the MRT, the hostel makes a great place for exploring and enjoying the city. There are two universities in the neighborhood and the surrounding area is a popular hangout for expats and young locals alike.

Hostel facilities include internet, washing machines, 24 hour hot showers, 24 hour reception, guest kitchen, air conditioning, free internet, free WiFi, maps and travel advice, lockers, and lounge area. Information about teaching English, studying Chinese, and tourist attractions is available at the front desk.

In addition to numerous eateries, cafes, clubs, and bars, there are also several markets in the area, including Shida night market, Gong Guan night market, and Yong Kung international food court night market.

Eight Elephants Hostel is also a good place to stay for people interested in studying Chinese at National Taiwan Normal University (known as Shida or NTNU), Taipei Language Institute (TLI, in walking distance), and National Taiwan University (NTU, 2 stops away on the MRT).
